Democracy: Protect, Promote and Practice!
Democrats of the Desert, Democratic Headquarters of the Desert, and Democratic Women of the Desert will be joining forces for a meeting on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 7pm titled, Democracy: Protect, Promote and Practice.
Gov. Newsom will give us a special message.
First Speaker: Julie Bornstein introduced by Rick Weingard, CEO DHQ "A Strategy to Fight Voter Suppression How Did We Get Here; What Can We Do About It?"
Formerly the Executive Director for Coachella Valley Housing Coalition, Julie has served in all three branches at the State level. Julie taught Political Science at College of the Desert, and Constitutional Law at the new California Desert Trial Academy School of Law in Indio.
Second Speaker: ASM 24 Marc Berman introduced by ASM 56 Eduardo Garcia "Protecting the Vote by Legislation" Marc Berman was first elected to the California State Assembly in November 2016 to represent the 24th District. This district includes southern San Mateo County and northern Santa Clara County in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Third Speaker: Heidi Martinez Introduced by Stephen Jaffe, President DOD "A Strategy to Fight the Recall"
Heidi Martinez is the SoCal Political Director of the Gavin Newsom Campaign: Stop The Recall. Heidi helped elect progressive candidates in San Diego County, including re-electing San Diego’s first Latina City Attorney. Formerly the campaign manager for Rusty Hicks' CADEM Chair re-election, she currently serves as a co-chair to the CADEM Legislative Standing Committee.
