Democratic Candidates Needed
Dear DOD members,
I'm writing today with an urgent request. We need Democrats to step up and run for Palm Desert City Council and the COD Trustees.
Charlie Ara, president of Palm Desert Greens Democrats, is leading the charge to find Democrats to run in Palm Desert.
As you may be aware, Palm Desert created one new district for elections this Fall and Karina Quintanilla, a Democrat who lives in that new district, is running for City Council.
We need two more Democrats to run in District 2 to unseat two conservatives. We also need to find a Democrat to run for the COD Board of Trustees, area 3.
I've pasted in below two links for additional information and a phone number to call for more information about the COD Board of Trustees.
If you are interested, that is TERRIFIC! If not, please talk to your friends and neighbors--you may find someone who is willing to serve the community.
While most City Council elections are "non-partisan," it is important that Democrats help identify and support Democrats who want to run for office. The Clubs often do that through endorsements, introductions to club members/voters, and donations to qualified Democratic candidates.
Also, DOD has a Board member -- Michael Finland -- who leads our candidate development efforts. So, if you or a friend decide to run, Michael and DOD will help. Plus Democratic Headquarters of the Desert has materials and advice to help Democrats run for office (before COVID, Elle K offered in-person seminars).
If you are interested, please contact Charlie Ara immediately. His email is: cara@sprintmail.com
And once you are definitely a candidate, please contact Michael Finland at: canylaw@aol.com
The time is now. Thank you,
Dori Smith, president, Democrats of the Desert
