Does it seem that more people are saying more vile things every day? Hate speech in America has become a serious problem—it can lead to hate crimes and violence. Just this morning Trump hurled insults at Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and he's done much worse at his rallies.

DOD’s October meeting will address the problem, and what we can do to combat hate speech.

Speakers: • Ron Oden, adjunct professor of sociology at College of the Desert and former Palm Springs mayor. • Lisa Middleton, current Palm Springs City Councilwoman and member of the Board of Administration for CalPERS (California Public Employees’ Retirement System). • Patrick Weiss, DOD member and District 42 Delegate to the California Convention.

We’ll also meet member/activist Larry Justad.

We're collecting donations again this month for Galilee Center in Mecca: gently used clothing; household and personal items.
