We know this is a decision that could cost him support from local Independents and Republicans, so he really needs us to rally round him, in the same way he is rallying support for all the values we know are essential to defend.

In an interview with the KMIR news team this evening, Dr. Ruiz cited Trump's lack of respect for the Office of the President as his reason for staying away from the inauguration. We know this is true and need to support this decision based on sound reasoning and ample evidence. EXAMPLES OF THE DISRESPECT INCLUDE

Trump's "Birther Movement" with ongoing attacks on President Obama's legitimacy as President. Of course it was all "hogwash"
Trump's attack on the U.N. vote regarding Israeli developments in Gaza. We have ALWAYS hewed to the principle that America has ONE President who speaks for the nation, especially on foreign policy. Trump has flaunted his disregard for this fundamental principle of our nation.
Foreign policy by tweets? Really! This is the antithisis of understanding the role of the Office of the President.
Despite having the lowest approval rating of any incoming President, Trump continues to bait "the losers" ( including Congressman Lewis) instead of reaching out to ALL Americans as an incoming President for the whole nation and every individual within it.
