Our Democrats of the Desert theme of "Commit to Act / Focus 2018" picks up this week big time!
* Please vote for Robert Mueller, candidate for City Council, if you live in Rancho Mirage and/or tell everyone you
know in Rancho Mirage to vote for Robert in this all mail-in ballot. Election day is April 10 ! Ballots are out NOW !
* DOD will hold a very important endorsement meeting where members in good standing can vote for recommended
endorsements at Saturday's meeting, March 24, at 2 pm at the Date Palm Country Club clubhouse in Cathedral City.
We also will hear from Executive Director Julie Bornstein of the Coachella Valley Housing Coalition about its great
work to provide low cost housing in the area. Julie will be introduced by Coachella Mayor Steve Hernandez. We also
will meet Andy Colgan, campaign manager for Congressman Ruiz.
This is a DOD meeting you will not want to miss !
We will adjourn by 3:30 pm so you can attend a 4 pm rally about gun violence to be held that afternoon at
Frances Stephens Park in Palm Springs.
* Earlier on this Saturday at 10:30 am, there will be a rally and march about gun violence beginning at Palm Springs
High School with the march to Palm Springs City Hall. Please try to attend if you can participate to show support
for students, teachers, parents and others who want action from Congress and state leaders on gun violence/gun safety.

Monday, April 9: Give What You Can Reception for Congressman Ruiz who will be there IN PERSON at 4:30 pm
at Studio One 11 cocktail bar in Cathedral City. Light snacks. No admission fee. Bring your checkbook or credit card
and help Congressman Ruiz win in November !
Sunday, April 15: Brunch with Riverside County Supervisor Manny Perez ! 11:30 am at Heritage Palms Country Club
clubhouse. Only $35 includes conversation with Manny and a delicious buffet brunch. Supervisor Perez represents
our Coachella Valley 4th District. His election is Tuesday, June 5 (primary day). We must elect Supervisor Perez !

Saturday, April 28: Congressman Ruiz is our special guest at the monthly DOD meeting. 2 pm at Date Palm Country
Club in Cathedral City. Learn from Congressman Ruiz how he is coping with Washington, DC and helping
his constituents and how YOU can be involved with his campaign. Light snacks.
Saturday, May 5: FUN ! Kentucky Derby Party. Mint juleps, Derby pie and games ! Watch the race
on television with other DOD pals and scream for your horse to win ! Only $25 includes a mint julep, Derby pie and
coffee and snacks.. 2 pm at Date Palm Country Club clubhouse.
